There are absolutely so many places to go and see in Japan.
If you have only a couple of days to stay in Japan, visiting different areas in Tokyo will satisfy you for sure.
If you have more days, I definitely recommend you to visit Kyoto, the most famous as well as popular sightseeing place in Japan. Also, there are so many other places you should visit if you have a chance.
Tokyo is such an exciting city with so many people. Even I, living in Tokyo for many years, think the number of people in busiest areas, such as in front of Hachiko in Shibuya, is totally crazy.
As each area in Tokyo has different face, you will never get bored.
If you want to see the busiest area, head for Shibuya or Shinjuku.
If you want to experience a traditional side, visit Asakusa.
If you want to enjoy shopping, go to Ginza or Harajuku, depending on what you want.
If you ask for an exciting night life, get off the train at Roppongi.
As you see, Tokyo has EVERYTHING. All you need is to make a choice!
